Dan Axtman, Boxing, 1954-57
Dan Axtman was a four-year member of ISU's boxing team, helping the squad to the 1957 NCAA title. He twice was the Pacific Coast Boxing Tournament Champion (in 1955 and 1956), and he won the 1955 Intermountain Tournament. In the 1956 NCAA Championships in Madison, Wis., Axtman finished second, and he also finished second in the Pre-Olympic Trials in Stockton, Calif. He later became the head boxing coach at the College of Idaho. Axtman currently resides in Redding, Calif. He graduated from ISU in 1957 and he earned a master's from the College of Idaho in 1958.
