Professional Achievement Awards
Overview
The Professional Achievement Award is presented to alumni of Idaho State University in recognition of significant professional achievement in a specific field or endeavor.
Nine Professional Achievement Awards are given each spring at Idaho State University's Commencement: College of Arts and Sciences – Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences – Arts & Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences – Natural Sciences, College of Business, College of Engineering, Kasiska College of Health Professions, College of Pharmacy and College of Technology. Individuals selected for the Professional Achievement Award must have left school at least 10 years ago.
Qualification
Each nominee is evaluated and ranked by members of the respective College's or department's selection committee. The committee's composition is as follows:
- Dean of the College (or designee)
- A member of the ISU Alumni Association, preferably a graduate of the respective College
- Two faculty members
- A representative from the University’s Standing Awards Committee
- Unit development officer, if applicable.
Qualifications
Factors considered when selecting a winner are listed and weighted as follows:
- Professional achievement in nominee's field
- Industry awards and special recognitions received
- Letters of support Selection committee members who have nominated, are related to or work for candidates shall be removed from the committee for the current year’s selection process.
Criteria and materials reviewed by selection committees includes:
- A completed nomination form.
- Three letters of support. (One may be from the person making the nomination)
- A current resume for the candidate, OR other supporting materials such as newspaper articles, publications, or other pieces that speak to the candidate’s achievements within their profession.
