ConnectionISU Student Phonathon
Going back as far as many of us can recall, each Spring, ISU students from each of the seven colleges have come together to call their alumni soliciting their support for six weeks. ISU alumni and friends have become accustomed to receiving their postcard each February announcing the dates the students from their college would be making contact with them.
That will be partially what will happen in the Spring of 2009. However, the ISU Foundation and the Annual Fund will be taking this student phonathon to the next level. A new student call center has been established on campus. A nice new work environment for students has been created. Approximately 10-15 students will be calling alumni, friends, parents, faculty and staff Sunday through Thursday, every week from mid-February, 2008 through the end of April, 2008. After summer break, students will once again bring the call center to life and begin making annual calls again in September of 2009 and continue to make contact with ISU alumni and friends through the end of the school year. This new student call center will function as the “fundraising center” for ISU’s annual fund.
Each year, through the manual student phonathon, less than 20% of ISU’s alumni are contacted. This new facility with state-of-the-art equipment will enable students to begin changing that number. Alumni who have never been contacted by ISU since their graduation or departure from ISU will likely be hearing from ISU students in 2009.
Students are excited to have this new facility and are anxious to begin their new jobs. These students love ISU and love talking to people about it. They will share information on what is going on at the university, answer any questions their contact may have and ultimately solicit them for a donation.
All gifts or pledges received through the student phonathon will be directed by the donor; however, many contacts made by students will be for specific need or purpose to segments of the ISU alumni community identified by previous gifts, degree or area of interest.
