ISU Alumni Association

Awards & Recognition

Overview

We watch our alumni closely through the years as they go on to succeed in life and in their careers. We honor them for their accomplishments, whether they be professional, philanthropic, personal or otherwise.

Awards and recognitions available for nomination include:

Sports Hall of Fame

The Idaho State University Sports Hall of Fame Award pays tribute to those individuals, living or deceased, who by their athletic achievement brought recognition and honor to the heritage and tradition of the ISU intercollegiate athletic program.

The ISU Sports Hall of Fame may also pay special tribute to individuals who have made a significant and lifetime contribution to the cause of ISU athletics through the award of the "ISU Sports Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award."

Recipients are selected annually and all sports programs, past and present are represented. The selection committee is comprised of current Hall of Fame members and is under the direction of the Office of Alumni Relations. The selection of candidates is made in April of each year and the recipients are honored at a ceremony in the Fall.

Golden & Silver Bengals recognition

Idaho State University has long recognized those upon whose shoulders and accomplishments the university rests, specifically our 50 year graduates. This group is affectionately and officially known as our Golden Bengals. This special group from all colleges and divisions accounts for 200-250 alumni each year. Tradition has dictated that this group, along with those who have been alumni more than 50 years (Founder’s) be recognized at Homecoming annually.

In an effort to provide greater recognition for this alumni group and to enhance the experience, plans were put into place in 2012 to honor an additional group with these Golden Bengals. Alumni who graduated 25 years previously will be recognized as our Silver Bengals. The number of alumni in this group will encompass 1500-2000 annually.

Golden and Silver Bengals are invited back to Idaho State University each year for Commencement. Upon their arrival on campus, several tours are provided to locations and areas of interest selected in advance by the alumni themselves. They are honored with an evening reception and recognition ceremony where they receive their Golden and Silver Bengals pins from the First Lady of Idaho State University, Dr. Laura I. Vailas. Connecting these alumni back to their university is enhanced by their participation in the annual Sr. Salute- March Through the Arch at Swanson Arch, the Friday prior to Commencement.

These special alumni are part of all colleges and divisions year-end recognition events, receptions and dinners. They are also special guests at the Commencement ceremony in Holt Arena and recognized by the President of the Idaho State University Alumni Association Board of Directors in the address delivered at Commencement.

This special group and these special events are coordinated by the Office of Alumni Relations.

Visit our Golden & Silver Bengals recognition page to see photos of this year's attendees.
