Computer Facilities and Services

The Computer Service Center, located in the basement of the College of Business building, is dedicated to meeting the computing needs of students. Frequent computer workshops are offered to students free of charge. Included in these workshops are: Drawperfect, Electronic Mail, Navigating the Internet, PC and DOS fundamentals, SPSS PC, Quattro Pro and Wordperfect. Monthly workshop schedules are available at the Computer Center Administrative Office, Room B-24. Additional assistance is available via computer manuals, on-line tutorials, and through interaction with Academic User Services staff.

Microcomputer Labs are available to all students at nine locations on campus and in Idaho Falls. Several microcomputer classrooms are also maintained with a total of 60 DOS computers. Various departments and colleges also maintain computing facilities. Labs are staffed seven days a week, with hours ranging from 7:30am to 1:30am. A combination of DOS based microcomputers are located in each Microcomputer LANs with Apple Macintosh computers and X-Terminals available in specific lab locations. A wealth of software and services are available, including Database Software, Electronic Mail, Graphics, ISU On-Line Library Catalog, Pascal, Statistical and Simulation Packages, and a variety of CD-ROM Applications. Student Information database and Internet access are also accessible from each Microcomputer Lab and both resources can be accessed remotely via modem by dialing 236-3251. You can also remotely access your Local Area Network (LAN) account by dialing 236-4377. For remote LAN access you must have CO/SESSION REMOTE software. To obtain CO/SESSION REMOTE and its instructions, free of charge, contact the staff of Academic User Services.

To use the Microcomputer Labs, you must have a Novell LAN account. The cost of a LAN account is $10.00 per semester and $5.00 for summer session.

A list of Microcomputer Lab hours can be obtained from the Computer Service Center and are also posted at each lab. Students may use the computers at any one of the following locations:
