This program will provide students with the skills and knowledge to sit  for the National Council Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX — RN).  Graduates are prepared to render competent nursing care in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, physicians’ offices, home health agencies, as well as industrial nursing.

Associate Degree in Nursing
4½ Semester Program

This is an Associate of Science Degree program that provides classroom, laboratory, and student nurse clinical practicum instruction which prepares graduates to write the NCLEXRN exam.  Successfully passing this examination enables the registered nurse to be licensed to practice in Idaho and to be eligible to apply for licensure in other states. Articulation into BSN programs is available to the graduate.

Prerequisites for entry to program:

  • Current LPN License.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • HO 106        Medical Terminology                2 cr
  • Demonstrate competency in computer skills or take OT 170 Introduction to Computers 3 cr during first two semesters.

  • BIOL 101/101L Biology I and Laboratory             4 cr
     (prerequisite for BIOS 301/302; helps meet Goals 4 and 5 via 12-hour rule)

    ANUR 210 Nursing Transition 2 credits. Nursing management issues, budget and cost containment, charge nurse as a team leader, transition of roles from LPN to RN, and leadership as a supervisor.     ANUR 211 Psychiatric Nursing 2 credits. Nursing care of the psychiatric patient in acute, chronic, and community settings. PREREQ: PNUR 130, PNUR 131, PNUR 133; BIOS 202 and BIOS 202L, BIOS 301 and BIOS 301L, and BIOS 302 and BIOS 302L. S

    ANUR 230 Medical/Surgical Nursing III 2 credits. Care of patients with long-term illness requiring nursing assessment and intervention within the community and within institutional care facilities. PREREQ. PNUR 130, PNUR 131, PNUR 133; BIOS 202 and BIOS 202L, BIOS 301 and BIOS 301L, and BIOS 302 and BIOS 302L. S

    ANUR 231 Clinical Foundations of Nursing IV 3 credits. Through hands-on clinical experience in a variety of settings, the student nurse will be exposed to skills required for advanced nursing practice. PREREQ.     ANUR 232 Nursing Care of Women and Infants. 2 credits. Study of abnormal conditions or complications of women's health, pregnancy, delivery, post-delivery, plus assessment of the high-risk newborn and prioritizing interventions. PREREQ.     ANUR 233 Medical and Surgical Nursing IV 3 credits. Theory of nursing assessments and interventions in the high-acuity patient are addressed. PREREQ. ANUR 210, ANUR 211, ANUR 230, ANUR 231, ANUR 232, ANUR 240, and ANUR 240L. F

    ANUR 240 Health Assessment 2 credits. Physical assessment of all ages, interpretation of data, extended development of critical thinking skills; planning of patient care based on clinical findings. PREREQ.
