SURT 201 Advanced Surveying 3 credits. Topics include advanced data collection, advanced field procedures, use of robotic total stations, use of digital levels, solar observations, and horizontal and vertical curve calculations and staking. PREREQ: CET 112, 122. F

SURT 202 Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing 3 credits. Introduction to aerial photogrammetry. Geometric concepts, photogrammetric systems, relief and tilt displacement on vertical photographs, relation between scale of print and altitude of camera, and analysis of overlapping photographs. Includes the development of index, planimetric, mosaic, and topographic maps. PREREQ: MATH 147 or permission of instructor. S

SURT 203 Surveying Software Applications 3 credits. Civil/survey software. Topics include data download; batch file creation; editing and processing; CoGo functions; field to finish functions; area and lot sizing; tins, DTMs and contours creation; calculation of volumes and basic read design and layout. PREREQ: CET 112, 122. COREQ: SURT 201 or permission of instructor. F

SURT 204 Research and Evidence in Surveying 3 credits. Survey research sources and techniques including field, private office, and governmental agency. courtroom procedures and practices. Local government agency permit and approval procedures. Surveyor/attorney interaction and roles. PREREQ: CET 122. S

SURT 206 Surveying Adjustments and Coordinate Systems 4 credits. Statistical analysis and adjustment of surveying measurements, network design, least squares adjustment, basic geodesy, coordinate systems, and coordinate systems transformations. PREREQ: MATH 160 or 170, MATH 253, CET 112 122. S

SURT 301 Public Land Surveys 3 credits. Study of surveys of public land. Includes a general scheme of subdivision of U.S. public lands and legal aspects of land surveys, riparian rights, and irregularities in subdivision. Studies Idaho Codes and regulation of public land surveys, corner perpetuation and filing, and recording of surveys. PREREQ: CET 222. F

SURT 303 Introduction to GPS 3 credits. Introduction to theory and use of Global Positioning Systems for mapping and survey quality applications. Topics include operational theory of GPS, types of receivers, use of mapping grade and carrier phase receivers, vector processing and adjustment, coordinate creation and output, and export of results for use in specific applications. F

SURT 304 Advanced GPS 4 credits. This is an advanced course in GPS emphasizing carrier phase field procedures, data collection, processing, analysis, and adjustment. Topics include static, kinematic, and real time kinematic procedures, network design in GPS, least squares adjustment, and coordinate output. Extensive outside project work is required. PREREQ: MATH 253, SURT 206, 303. S

SURT 401 Survey Office Practice 5 credits. Introduction to the broad skills required of a surveyor running a business. Topics covered include formulating a business plan, forms of business organizations, basic financial forms and accounting, concepts of pricing and bidding, personnel management, marketing, contracts and proposals, and project management. PREREQ: Senior standing or permission of instructor. F

SURT 402 Construction Surveying 4 credits. Specialized techniques and skills for surveyors in major construction and engineering projects. Vertical and horizontal control, preliminary site surveys, earthwork, structure staking and grading, quantities determination, machinery placement, and basic design of water collection and distribution systems. PREREQ: SURT 201, 203 or permission of instructor. S

SURT 403 Route Survey and Design 5 credits. Course will run concurrently with CET 212. Additional requirements and advanced projects will be required of students registering for SURT 403 credit. PREREQ: CET 222. F

SURT 404 Surveying Project 5 credits. An independent study capstone course designed to further develop the skills required of a professional surveyor. Project is selected, designed, and performed under the guidance of a faculty member. A formal presentation and defense of the project to a faculty and peer committee is required. PREREQ: Senior standing or permission of instructor. S

SURT 405 Subdivision Planning and Platting 4 credits. Land use planning; governmental regulations and permits as applied to subdivisions; subdivision planning, computations and preparation of subdivision plats. PREREQ: SURT 201, 203. F

RT 406 Professional Licensure Exams Preparation 3 credits. This course is a review of surveying material in preparation for the Land Surveyor in Training and Professional Land Surveyor's exams. PREREQ: Senior standing or permission of instructor. S
