Admission Process
There are two applications to be completed. The deadline for submitting all application materials for the class entering Fall 2012 is November 1, 2011. The GRE exam is being revised. The new format will be administered beginning August 1, 2011. Scores from the early administration of the new format will not be available to programs until mid November 2011. To insure early and timely processing of your application, take the GRE by August 1, 2011.
1. CASPA Application:
The ISU PA Program participates in the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA). Applicants must send the following to CASPA: * Official transcripts * Three (3) Letters of Recommendation * CASPA requires a fee to be paid at the time of the application Note: The CASPA application is a separate application from the ISU Graduate School application. Go to https://portal.caspaonline.org for the application and more information about the application process and fees.
2. ISU Graduate School
Applicants must also meet the admission requirements of the ISU School of Graduate Studies. The following items must be submitted to ISU's Graduate School:
* GRE Scores: The PA program requires the GRE. See http://www.ets.org for information about testing locations and scheduling the exam.
GRE School Code 4355, Department Code 0699
It is up to individual ISU graduate programs to determine whether or not the GRE is required. The PA program requires the GRE. The program follows the minimum GRE score guidelines used by the Graduate School. These guidelines are published in the Graduate Catalog. The first line of information that indicates a last 50-60 credits taken GPA of 3.5 - 4.00 does not require the GRE is not correct for the PA program. You must take the GRE for admission to the ISU PA program.
* Official transcripts: CASPA DOES NOT forward transcripts to the program. A separate set of official transcripts must be requested for ISU's Graduate School.
* Graduate School Application. The Graduate School requires a fee to be paid at the time of application.
* When completing the Graduate School application, select the Fall semester for the year you are applying for admission.
Note: The Graduate School application is the supplemental application referred to on the CASPA website. Applicants may obtain the Graduate School application and information online by going to http://www.isu.edu and clicking on the green "How to Apply" button.
Rolling Admissions: The Admissions Committee will consider applications as soon as a completed CASPA and a completed ISU Graduate School application (click on the green "How to Apply" button) have been received. If all criteria are satisfied, applicants may be called for an interview and may be accepted before the application deadline. Admission decisions will take place in an ongoing, rolling manner.
