Paula Phelps Paula Phelps was promoted to Director of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies in 2010. Paula graduated from the University of Utah Physician Assistant Program in 1995 and completed her Master's in Health Education at Idaho State University in 2000. Her clinical experience is in family practice & OB/GYN. Mrs. Phelps was hired by the ISU PA Program in 1995.
Sherwin D'Souza, MD

Sherwin D'Souza Dr. Sherwin D'Souza is a graduate of GS Medical College in Mumbai India. He completed his internship at St. Lukes Roosevelt in New York City and went on to complete his residency and Chief residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Sciences Center. He has served as Medical Director and a preceptor for the PA program since 2005.
He has practiced in Idaho since 2000 and is currently in private practice.His practice specializes in diabetes, osteoporosis and other endocrine conditions.
He is also a Clinical Instructor at the ISU Family Practice residency as well as adjunct Faculty at the University of Washington and Volunteer Clinical Instructor at the University of Utah.

Richard Anstett Dr. Anstett received his MD from the Medical College of Ohio State, his PhD in clinical psychology from Ohio State, and his MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. He taught family medicing at the University of Colorado and the University of Wisconsin Schools of Medicine. He has lead or participated in over 45 international mission projects with students in Cuba, Haiti, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, India, and Kenya. Behavioral medicine, dermatology, and global health care catch his interest the most. He joined the ISU PA Program in 2014.

Kent Whitaker Kent graduated from the University of Utah Physician Assistant Program in 1995 and completed his Masters of Education at Weber State University. His clinical experience is in primary care and dermatology. Mr. Whitaker was hired by the ISU PA Program in 1998.

Dave Martin Dave graduated from the University of Oklahoma Physician Assistant Program in 1980 and completed his Master's in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska in 2000. His clinical experience is in family practice & emergency medicine. Mr. Martin was hired by the ISU PA Program in 2003.

Marvin SparrellMarv earned a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Utah and has served as a PA at the Boise VAMC since 1982. His clinical experience includes surgical service, internal medicine, and geriatric medicine. He joined ISU's PA program in 2009.

Corbin Bunnage Corbin graduated from Idaho State University Physician Assistant Program in 1999. His clinical experience is in emergency medicine. He received his MS degree with an emphasis in family practice and emergency medicine from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in March 2004. Corbin was hired by the ISU PA Program in 2003.

Jared PapaJared is experienced in rural and underserved community health having worked in the fields of family and urgent care medicine.  He is fluent in Spanish.  Jared received his Physician Assistant training from Pacific University, graduating in 2003, and joined the ISU PA Program in 2008.

Jeff Johnson Jeff graduated from the ISU PA Program in 2002. He is also a graduate of the ISU College of Pharmacy earning a PharmD degree. His experience is primarily in emergency and urgent care medicine. He has also worked as a community pharmacist . He joined the ISU PA Program in 2011.

Vicki Allen Vicki has been a Registered Nurse since 1976, She became a Legal Nurse Consultant in 2005. Vicki's clinical experience is in neonatal and adult intensive care. She has worked as a staff nurse, manager and hospital administrator prior to being hired by the PA program in 2010.

Jennifer Forbes Jennifer graduated from the University of South Alabama Physician Assistant Program in 2001 where she earned her Master of Health Sciences degree. She has clinical experience in pediatric orthopedics, pediatrics, and family practice. She served as an assistant professor in two other PA programs prior to joining the ISU PA program in 2012.

Talia Sierra Talia earned a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Idaho State University in 2008. Her clinical experience is in community health doing primary care. Prior to joining the ISU PA program in 2013 she taught with the MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Training Program at the University of Washington.

Rachel Smetanka Rachel graduated with a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Iowa in 2001. After completing a postdoctoral degree at James Madison University, she served as a college biology professor for nine years. She then earned her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Idaho State University and was hired by the program in the fall of 2013. Rachel currently works in Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care.

H. Cathleen Tarp Dr. Tarp's areas of specialization are the Spanish Middle Ages and Baroque. Current research interests include the grotesque, the Spanish prose romance, and narratology in the context of the development of prose fiction. Dr. Tarp is a certified medical interpreter and a qualified legal interpreter. She works closely with the department to teach Medical Spanish to future PAs. She joined the ISU PA Program in 2011.

Ann Smalley Ann completed her Master's of Business Administration at Idaho State University in 1985. Ann is the Admissions Director for the program. In addition to her admissions duties, Ann oversees the program's budget and participates on the program's Self Study Committee. She is also a Notary. Ann was hired by the ISU PA Program in 2003.

Chad HarballChad has over 10 years of computer, telecommunications, and business operations experience, specializing in computer hardware and synchronous distributed education. He oversees classroom operations, inventory, building safety, medical & electronics purchasing, and logistics planning. Chad was hired by the ISU PA Program in 2006.

Jerry JonesJerry is a 1985 cum laude graduate of Brigham Young University where he earned a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast News. Jerry also holds two ANSI-accredited certifications, including the Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) credential from InfoComm International and the CompTIA A+ credential from the Computing Technology Industry Association.

Ellen Tarpley Ellen has work experience in the hospital setting and University setting. She was the Regional Coordinator for Pacific Northwest University for fourth year DO medical students. In the hospital setting she assisted with Quality Improvement, Peer Review, and was the CME Coordinator. Ellen was also a National Registered EMT. She joined the ISU PA Program in 2012.

She earned a Certificate in Publishing while working in a small regional press as an editor and manuscript screener. She has also been a Human Resources specialist. She joined the ISU PA Program in 2014.

Kerbie Cameron Kerbie graduated from ISU's College of Technology with a Technical Certificate in Business Administration Office Technology. For 5 1/2 years Kerbie worked as Financial Assistant to the CFO at Health West, a local community clinic. She joined the ISU PA Program in 2014.

Lacey Nutting Lacey received a BA in Spanish Language from Boise State University, after which she spent two years teaching English to business executives in Peru. She has also worked as an operations coordinator for a travel agency, and as a clerk at the Ada Country Public Defenders Office. She joined the ISU PA Program in 2014.
