Computer Requirements

The ISU PA Program requires all students to have a laptop prior to courses beginning in the fall semester. Your laptop or tablet PC must meet the following specifications (DO NOT MAKE ANY SUBSTITUTIONS):

Operating System:	Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista (32 bit preferred over 64 bit versions) No Mac Computers. They are not compatible with required software.
Mandatory Software:	Microsoft Office XP Professional 2007 (includes Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and Outlook). Note: the student price through the University Bookstore may be lower than the retail price. Be sure to check out the University Bookstore before purchasing Microsoft Office! Internet Explorer 6.0 or later (Click here for latest version of Internet Explorer) Mozilla Firefox browser (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) Current anti-virus software (separate from Windows). Examples: Norton, McAfee, AVG
Processor:	2.0 GHz or above
RAM:	1 Gb (2 Gb or more recommended)
Hard Drive:	80 Gb or above
CD Drive:	DVD-ROM (minimum requirement, DVD Combo Drive recommended) (DVD+/-RW optional)
Storage Device:	If no CDRW, then you need a USB flash drive 1 Gb or more
Wireless Card:	ISU Supports several types of Wireless Network Cards. If you have recently purchased your laptop it may have an internal wireless card which is supported. The Cisco Aironet Card is recommended if you need to purchase an external card.
WebCam (recommended):	Internal or External
Browser Plugins:	Note: watch for additional applications being pre-selected to download on these screens. You may want to uncheck these options in order to avoid adding programs you don't want. RealPlayer Adobe Acrobat Reader QuickTime Flash Player Java
