AnyBook:
Small Publisher's Business Kit
.
AnyBook.is
a multi-year project that I've undertaken as an extension of my professional
and scholarly interests. It's a Windows based software program designed
specifically for small or self-publishers. I use it nearly every
day in my small publishing business enabling me to publish academic projects,
and I wanted to make it available to other folks who could make use of
it.
I've included summary information below, but the primary source of information on AnyBook is found at RonWatters.com which is a separate and independent website that I maintain:

Short Summary of the Program
I'm quite proud of this program. It's received a number of awards:
- PC Magazine awarded AnyBook an Editor's Pick Award: Review
- Rated 5-stars by eight independent software ranking sites: Ratings
- "Programming Excellence" & Editor's Choice by Softseeker: More Reviews
- "Select Software Award" and "Top Picks" by Softbase: Awards

downloaded your software and it is incredible. There's nothing like it
I've ever seen. I am mentioning it in the next newsletter!" Other comments and reviews.
Available
in two series . . .
AnyBook
is available in two series: Classic Series and Professional Series. The
differences between each of the series and editions are explained
below:
The Classic Series
is designed for folks just getting started and need a
low-cost way of dealing with day-to-day business tasks. Classic
programs are based on the 16-bit programming platform. That means that
they were originally programmed for older operating systems.
Classic programs are supported but no new features and enhancements are
being added. More information is available at RonWatters.com: More Information
The Professional Series is
the result of years of work and is made up of the
premier versions of AnyBook. The Professional Series
consists of four editions: Level I, II, III and IV. Each
higher level provides more options and a larger range of
features. Professional Series programs
are designed specifically for newer operating systems. More information is available at RonWatters.com: More Information.
All AnyBook versions are compatible. You can move from Level I to
Level II, or Level II to Level III, or even from Classic Basic to
Professional Level IV. The program will automatically convert
data files to the new version.

PC Magazine's Review of AnyBook
PC
Magazine has
awarded AnyBook an Editor's Pick Award.
This
is the full review of AnyBook as it appears on their website (ZDNet):
"AnyBook!
is an accounting and inventory control system designed specifically for
small publishers. The program very accurately targets these specific users
with a well documented, thorough array of features. The form-oriented program
can generate invoices, billings, and preformatted sales reports, as well
as track consignments and inventory, although it lacks advanced touches
such as import/export, email links, and flexible reporting.* AnyBook! is
specifically aimed at small publishing operations, with functions for book
returns, client mailing lists, discounts, taxes, and more. Accessible menu
items and clear layouts ease the learning curve, as does comprehensive
help and specific topics for getting started." --Used

Reviews and Comments from Small Publishers
"Anybook is
the perfect answer to a small publisher's inventory tracking needs. The
well-designed program is every bit as functional as the big commercial
systems...at a fraction of the price."
--Kathy Steligo,
Carlo Press, California (http://www.carlopress.com)
"This
shareware program is the most powerful tool I've found for small publishers.
It keeps track of customers, orders, payments and everything else a small
publisher needs."
--Tom Person,
Laughing Bear Press, Texas (http://www.laughing bear.com)
(From the Laughing Bear Newsletter)
"Thank
you for such a wonderful product at a reasonable price. It's the
only one I found that does everything I need it to that is truly built
for the royalty paying publisher. Several of my books have multiple royalty
payees and this program is built for that possibility.
I started in the publishing business the
summer of 1999 and started looking for accounting software that I could
afford that would accommodate our company's growth. Once I tried out AnyBook,
I knew I had found the right software."
--Sandra Wellborn, CEO,
Waltsan Publishing, LLC
"We
find Anybook exactly fits our needs as a small publishing business. It
is an exceptionally user-friendly program. The Help content is comprehensive
and for the self-publisher with little or no business background a God-send
as it not only explains what to do but why one is doing it.
The latest upgrade with its enhanced export facilities
has enabled us to send orders directly to our fulfillment warehouse and
for us, based as we are outside the US the currency conversion feature
is a big plus. Furthermore the support available on registering is unbeatable.
Using Anybook has made a very big difference to us. Thank you very much
indeed!"
--Amanda Goodman-Cohen,
Nehora Press (www.nehorapress.com)
"It is sales tax time here in California -- and what an an easy job it is with
your program. I just print it out and enter the numbers. I am so
grateful that you have put this program together. Publishers like myself are very fortunate."
--Jan Thielemann, Hügelwilhelm Publishing Co, CA (www.whitmorehistory.com)
"We
recently received a gift of 65,000 pieces of artwork. Other software
management solutions were very costly. AnyBook not only solved
the problem, the support staff were more than helpful in adapting the
product to our specific need. Simply stated . . . a perfect
software solution."
