I am a limnologist interested in the structure and function of river, stream and lake ecosystems. My research approach combines ecosystem ecology with community and experimental techniques to identify and understand environmental patterns in processes such as nutrient cycling, ecosystem metabolism, and energy supply to aquatic food webs. I am particularly interested in how human-caused alterations such as land use, hydrologic diversion, and climate change alter the way that aquatic ecosystems function. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Idaho State University, where I study human effects on watershed nutrient and carbon cycling and export in the Portneuf River in Southeast Idaho.
