Mary Anne Benner
received her degree in Mass
Communication with an emphasis in Photojournalism
and a minor in Visual Anthropology. She is originally
from Rochester, NY and is currently residing in Portland while working on a documentary titled, "In Plain Sight" The Life of a Street Performer.
She has been with H.H.P. since January
2006 and continues to work remotely.
Mary Anne is the Hispanic Health Projects Educational
Material Specialist.
She is responsible for collecting project information
from each staff member and going out to community
projects to take photos and get video footage for
the Hispanic Health Projects publications, videos,
and website.
She is directly involved in translating research
results into culturally
acceptable, and literacy level appropriate educational
materials.
She attends community groups such as the Salsa Aerobics,
the Computer
Clases and the Cooking classes, discusses materials
with the participating community members and the health
promoters.
Her current projects include new poster designs
for HHP, this website, and a 60 second video production
for Americorp.
Mary Anne worked with Dr. Cartwright in 2008 to
begin a new program for teens in American Falls. The
program involved teaching teens how to create
photo essays and video documentaries to show what
is happening with teens in their community. It was
part of her responsiblity for AmeriCorps Vista.
She worked with the Hispanic Health Projects team on the latest Hispanic
Health Projects Production, "The Many Faces of
Diabetes"
- She was responsible for the layout and design of
the DVD case, the videography, cinematography, and
editing the movie as well as other various roles.
- She was responsible for the layout and
design as well as the photographs in the DVD booklet.
Past Projects include a video titled, "Diabetes
y la Familia" and a Foto Novela.
- She is responsible for the layout and design
of the DVD case and the videography in the film and
helped in the editing process of the video as well
as the interviews.
- She is responsible for the layout and design
as well as the photographs and interview for the story
inside the Foto Novela.
